About Alice

Alice Marie Hill holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Marylhurst University in (Portland, OR) along with an Associated of Science Degree in Technical and Scientific Illustration from Cuyamaca College (El Cajon, CA). Previously she was a medical illustrator at the University of California at San Diego Medical School (La Jolla, CA) and a technical illustrator working for the Naval Ocean Labs (San Diego, CA). After moving to Oregon, she worked as a graphic artist, creating logos and creative signage before returning to college to finish her degree.

Alice has participated in artist residencies at Crater Lake National Park, Milwaukee Arts Academy, and Jackson Bottom Wetlands, as well as an internship at Reuben H Fleet Science Center (San Diego, CA). She was also a recent recipient of a RACC grant to further her studies in Scientific Illustration at the University of Boulder, Colorado. She is currently a member of the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators, Oregon Botanical Artists, and the International Society of Scratchboard Artist

As a teaching artist, Alice has taught Scientific Illustration, Drawing, Painting, and Ceramics, working with the Pacific Northwest College of Art, Oregon College of Arts & Crafts, Saturday Academy at the University of Portland, the Right Brian Initiative, and the Walters Cultural Arts Center. She was also the the program coordinator and art instructor for the Rise Above Arts Program, a program for at risk youth at Safe Place for Youth.
